The first point release of the Xubuntu 16.04 LTS computer operating system has been officially published as part of the Ubuntu 16.04.1 LTS (Xenial Xerus) announcement earlier in the week.
Xubuntu 16.04.1 LTS is the first of many to come maintenance update, which will be published during the 3-year life cycle support of this official Ubuntu flavor build around the lightweight and fast Xfce 4.12 desktop environment, and it’s a mainly a collection of software update and security patches.
However, the most important part of the Xubuntu 16.04.1 LTS release is that it opens up the upgrade path from the Xubuntu 14.04 LTS (Trusty Tahr) operating system. Therefore, if you’re using Xubuntu 14.04.4 LTS, you should have received an upgrade notification.
