Linux Mint project leader Clement Lefebvre has published a new installation of the Monthly News newsletter to inform the community about the latest happening and upcoming plans for the popular GNU/Linux distribution.
First off, Clement Lefebvre would like to thank all the wonderful people that donated money to the Linux Mint project in the month of July. Then he informs us about the fact that the soon-to-be-released Linux Mint 18 KDE Edition will ship with the SDDM display manager instead of MDM (Mint Display Manager) that’s used in all the other flavors.
Additionally, it looks like the Linux Mint 18 “Sarah” KDE Edition will drop its well-known blue Linux Mint icon for a green one, along with a revamped boot splash screen that’s also being used on the Cinnamon, MATE, and Xfce editions. A pubic beta release of Linux Mint 18 KDE is expected to land sometime this month.
