4MLinux developer Zbigniew Konojacki has informed us about the availability for download and testing of the Beta release of the upcoming 4MLinux 18.0 operating system.
The Core edition of 4MLinux 18.0 has been released on May 8, 2016, powered by the long-term supported Linux 4.4 kernel and using GNU Compiler Collection (GCC) 5.3.0 to compile the pre-installed packages, which are available, as usual, only for the 32-bit (i686) hardware architecture.
Additionally, it looks like 4MLinux Core 18.0 Beta ships with the GNU C Library 2.23 and BusyBox 1.24.2 components. While not mentioned in the brief release announcement, the Beta build of 4MLinux Core 18.0 contains various other updates GNU/Linux technologies and security patches.
